GLP-1 injection site rotation chart

Tap the site you used last to see the next one in an 8-site loop around your stomach area, thighs and upper arms. Print it to keep track on paper.

Next site = the one after your last, and after site 8 comes site 1

Site you used last

The labels say to change the site with each shot. This chart only keeps the order; it doesn't say which sites suit you.

Worked example

Shot 1 goes in site 1, the upper left stomach. Shot 2 goes in site 2, the upper right stomach, and shot 3 in site 3, the left thigh. After site 8, the back of the right upper arm, you are back at site 1.

What the labels say

The Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Saxenda and Trulicity labels all list the same three areas: the stomach area (abdomen), the thigh and the upper arm. Each says to change the injection site with every shot (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Saxenda, Trulicity).

The Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound instructions say to stay at least 2 inches (5 cm) from the belly button. The Mounjaro, Zepbound and Trulicity instructions say another person should give the shot in the back of the upper arm.

The 8-site order is only a way to keep track; the labels don't set one. Your prescriber or pharmacist can say which sites suit you.

Questions

Where can I inject Zepbound?

In the stomach area (abdomen) at least 2 inches from the belly button, or the thigh. Another person should give it in the back of the upper arm (Zepbound label).

Does the injection site matter?

The labels say about the same amount of medicine reaches the blood from the abdomen, thigh or upper arm (Ozempic, Zepbound, Trulicity). What matters is changing the spot each time: the Mounjaro and Zepbound instructions say it lowers the risk of pitted or thickened skin and lumps where you inject.

How far apart should sites be?

The labels don't give a distance between shots. They say to use a different spot each time, and the Wegovy instructions say the same body area is fine as long as the spot changes. If you also use insulin, the Ozempic, Mounjaro and Trulicity labels say the two can go in the same area but not right next to each other.
