Is 5-Amino-1MQ FDA-approved?
Not approved by the FDA. Products sold online as "research chemicals" aren't checked for purity, sterility or dose.
Overview
5-Amino-1MQ isn't a peptide. It blocks nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme that's higher in the fat tissue of people with obesity. In mice made obese with a high-fat diet, it lowered body weight, fat mass and fat cell size without cutting how much they ate.
How it works
NNMT uses up building blocks cells need for NAD+ and SAM. Blocking it raised NAD+ and SAM inside fat cells and slowed fat building in lab studies.
How long does 5-Amino-1MQ stay in the body?
Not established in people.
What it's studied for
- Obesity in mice
- Fat cell metabolism
